Translation Notes

我が背子は
My dear (husband)
仮廬作らす
Temporary bed making for
草なくは
Grass not  
小松が下の
Young pine under ’s
草を刈らさね
Grass cut [さね = “please do” or “sleep together”]
It was believed that pine has some holy energy, so that the
narrator suggests she and her husband sleep together beneath the young pine.
