Gustavo Adolfo Bécquer’s “I saw you floating before my eyes” (Rhyme XIV)

This poem starts at 1:59

For a moment, I saw you
floating before my eyes
and the image of your eyes
as the dark spot circling a flame
that floats and blinds you when
you stare at the sun.
Wherever I pin my gaze,
Again, I see your pupils blaze;
but I do not encounter you, for
it is just a glance,
those eyes of yours, and
nothing more.
In the corner of my room I see
untangling their fantastic
and when I sleep I feel them looming
above me, open wide.
I know there are
will-o’-wisps in the night
that carry travelers to their
I feel drawn to your eyes,
but where they take me, I do
not know.
Original Spanish
Te vi un punto y, flotando
ante mis ojos,
la imagen de tus ojos se
como la mancha oscura orlada
en fuego
que flota y ciega si se mira
al sol.
Adondequiera que la vista
torno a ver las pupilas
mas no te encuentro a ti, que
es tu mirada,
unos ojos, los tuyos, nada
De mi alcoba en el ángulo los
desasidos fantásticos lucir;
cuando duermo los siento que
se ciernen,
de par en par abiertos sobre
Yo sé que hay fuegos fatuos
que en la noche
llevan al caminante a
yo me siento arrastrado por
tus ojos,
pero adónde me arrastran, no
lo sé.
