Death wants me in her bed

This is a poem by the Italian poet and noted music critic, Giorgio Vigolo (1894-1983).
My Translation
Help me,
pull me
from this swamp;
can I lift myself
from under the arms?
I am nothing but a weight
of flesh and bones,
falling lower all the time.
If you give me not your hand,
is there a way to rise to you?
Death is fighting with you for me;
she wants me in her bed.
Original Italian
Aiutami tu
a tirarmi fuori
dalla palude;
come potrò da me solo
prendermi sotto le braccia?
Io non sono che un peso
d’ossa e di carne che scende
ogni momento più in basso.
Se tu non mi dài una mano,
come salirò a te?
La morte mi ti contende,
mi vuole con sè nel suo letto.
